Every hero begins with the same fixed three-Heart loadout.

Starting loadout: Bolt, Field, Blink. Bolt has Earth affinity in slot 1, while Field and Blink have Force affinity in slots 2 and 3. All three scale with Power.

Appearance and name

Appearance
Rift Courier: A quick-footed pathfinder who keeps moving when worlds come apart. Trail Warden: A sturdy guardian of the road. Coming soon. Dawnweaver: A radiant heroine who walks with the dawn. Coming soon.
Name
Names are trimmed, repeated spaces are collapsed, and the final value is limited to 24 characters. A blank name cannot create a hero.
Starting build
Every hero starts with a Wand equipped, rank 1 Power, Condition, Quickness, and Essence, and no unspent attribute points.

First assignment

Every new hero confirms a movement method before combat begins; an existing device preference does not skip this choice.
Mouse
Click ground to move. Hold the primary pointer action on a monster to approach and fire the Wand.
WASD
Use WASD or the arrow keys to move, then use the primary pointer action to fire.
Cold open
Mara's paused recordings teach movement, Wand, dodge, Bolt, Field, and Blink in Mosswild. Recovering the controlled starter shard lights Gem 1-1; holding the tether returns the hero and opens the ship introduction.
